Java updated, system does not notify you

Java-DisabledOracle released a new Java version today. Java 7, update 40. If you have a need for Java, update to this latest version and if you have no need for Java then it is highly recommended you uninstall it from your system completely or at least disable it. Normally Mac users that have Java 7 installed can go to System Preferences > Java > Update and it will show you the latest available version. However in this case it will not for unknown reasons. So, to get the latest version of Java get it directly from Oracle here.

Again, if you do not absolutely need Java on your machine, get rid of it. Yesterday another version of the Tibet malware was found that exploits older Java versions. Old = bad, update it or get rid of it.
